Course Overview

This Performing Arts course provides students with practical experience as an actor and the practitioners and theory behind how performance is created. Students will analyse everything from acting and movement, through to costume, lighting, characterisation and setting.

Students who take this course are passionate about learning how to develop their own skills and techniques as an actor and how to make successful performances.

BTEC Nationals use a combination of assessment styles to give students confidence to be able to apply their knowledge to succeed in the world of the Performing Arts. The content is delivered through a practical application of skills; there are lots of opportunities to be involved in performances and to hone skills.

Unit 1: Investigating practitioners work

Unit 34: Developing skills and techniques for live performance

Unit 3: Group performance

Unit 19: Acting Styles

Where will it lead?

The skills and confidence you will acquire  on this course are useful in most social contexts. Students often go on to follow a degree in the performing arts, direct into employment or study an unrelated degree course including Law, Teaching, Media, History and Journalism.
